Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of camera do you use?

A: Most of the time I use a Digital 8 Sony 740. It's not the sharpest model out there, but its the one I've been using for a few years. It has pretty decent resolution for web videos. Soon I'll be updating to a better camera.

Q: What do you use to edit your movies?

A: I use iMovie. Its easy. I would like to advance toFinal Cut Pro, but iMovie seems to work pretty well. I use some plug-in effects from Stupendous Software and Slick. For a lot of the titles and Graphics I use Photoshop and import the images into iMovie. To compress the movies for the internet, i make a full quality Quicktime movie with iMovie then compress it with Quicktime Pro.

Q: What do you use for audio?

I use an Audio Technica AT835b shotgun mic as well as an adapter box to convert the mic's xlr cable to a miniplug cable.

Q: What are good Quicktime Pro settings to make good YouTube movies?

A: I don't know. if you have a magic formula, please let me know at jeremiah dot murphy at gmail dot com.

Q: Do you improvse in your movies or is it all planned out?

A: A little bit of both. For the Staff Meeting series, I made a list of bits, gags, and a little bit of dialogue and would have the actors improvise off an outline. This method seems to be the most fun. For movies like The Cry of Dracula, I completely scripted it but once we got to Ikea we had to improvise a little because the location threw us a couple challenges. A script and plan is good to have but it always seems that no matter how well you and your cast and crew plan you're going to have to do some sort of improvising during the shoot.

Q: Is this page under construction?

A: Yes, please excuse our appearance and we apologize for the inconvenience.
